The FM recognized that the Pakistani community abroad has always played a very vibrant role for us

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said that the coronavirus is not only a medical but also an economic challenge and everyone must play their part in overcoming the virus.

Shah Mahmood expressed these views during a video link address to the Pakistani community in the United States.

Foreign Secretary Sohail Mahmood, Pakistan s Ambassador to the United States Asad Majeed and other officials attended the meeting via video link. Moreover, a large portion of the Pakistani community in United States also attended the virtual meeting.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi has initiated a series of "Town Hall Virtual Meetings" to inform Pakistanis living abroad about the efforts being made by the country regarding the pandemic and to listen to the issues being faced by them.

The Foreign Minister said that the virtual meeting with the Pakistani community in the United States is a part of this initiative. He also addressed the United States’ Pakistani community in the meeting which was broadcast live on national TV.

The FM recognized that the Pakistani community abroad has always played a very vibrant role and demonstrated large heartedness. He said the entire Pakistani nation is grateful to the contributions made by the Pakistani American during difficult times.

The Foreign Minister said the Coronavirus respects no borders and collective efforts are required to deal with this unprecedented challenge.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said the government has taken the initiatives to protect the poor segments of the society and support the economy at this difficult juncture.

The Foreign Minister said that it is government’s utmost responsibility to bring back all the registered sixty thousand stranded Pakistanis before Eid ul Fitr. He said ten thousand Pakistanis have already been brought back.
