Lockdown violators to be arrested and put in quarantine: Balochistan Govt
So far, more than Rs 1.59 billion has been distributed to people under the Ehsaas Kifalat program
QUETTA (Dunya News) – In a bid to deter people from unnecessary movement, Spokesman Balochistan government Liaquat Shahwani has said that lockdown violators will be arrested and kept in quarantine center.
He announced this while speaking at a press conference in the Civil Secretariat. He said that 21 more people have been diagnose with the virus today, after which the total number of cases has risen to 486 in the province. He added that 268 cases of local transmission have been reported in Quetta.
Liaquat Shahwani said that random testing has been started in the city. He said that if people want the easing of restrictions to continue, they will have to cooperate with the authorities. Failure to do so will result in the concessions being withdrawn.
He said that a PSR machine has been received from the federal government while one has been purchased by the province itself. Efforts are being made to push the daily testing capacity to one thousand and in addition to that, more medical and protective equipment has also been provided to different hospitals.
Spokesman Balochistan government said that there is capacity to handle more than 6,000 people in 60 quarantine centers in the province. He said that so far, more than Rs 1.59 billion has been distributed to people under the Ehsaas Kifalat program while 153,000 households have been provided rations in the first phase of assistance.
