Nine members of a family have been diagnosed with the virus in Sikandria Colony

LAHORE (Dunya News) – The government of Punjab on Friday has sought one-week extension in lockdown after the local authorities sealed Lahore’s Sikandria Colony following emergence of coronavirus cases.

According to details, nine members of a family have been diagnosed with the virus in Sikandria Colony after which, they were shifted to Expo Quarantine Center for medical treatment.

On the other hand, the Punjab government has told that the suggestion for extension in the lockdown has been forwarded to federation. However, the decision, in this regard, will be taken in Federal Cabinet meeting.

It is to be mentioned here that Pakistan has reported 66 deaths from novel coronavirus while the total number of cases has surged to 4601.

2,279 patients have been tested positive for the epidemic in Punjab, 1128 in Sindh, 620 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 215 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 219 in Balochistan, 107 in Islamabad and 33 in Azad Kashmir.

So far, 727 patients have recovered in the country while 45 are in critical condition.
