Coronavirus death toll rises to 58 in Pakistan with 4187 confirmed cases

Coronavirus cases and deaths have surged in Pakistan.

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Pakistan on Wednesday has reported 58 deaths from novel coronavirus while the total number of cases has surged to 4187.

According to details, 2,132 patients have been tested positive for the epidemic in Punjab, 986 in Sindh, 527 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 212 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 210 in Balochistan, 92 in Islamabad and 28 in Azad Kashmir.

So far, 467 patients have recovered in the country while 25 are in critical condition.  


CM Sindh decides to tighten provincial lockdown


Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah has expressed displeasure at the public for ignoring social distancing directives and has decided to make the provincial lockdown more stringent.

This decision was taken during a consultative meeting of the provincial cabinet at CM House.

While reviewing the coronavirus situation in the province, the Chief Minister directed law enforcement agencies to ensure complete imposition of lockdown restrictions.


PM Imran, Turkish president agree to work together in fight against COVID-19


Prime Minister Imran Khan contacted Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and emphasized the need to fight against the outbreak of novel coronavirus pandemic across the globe.

During his telephonic conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the prime minister offered condolences to the people and the government of Turkey over the loss of precious human lives as a result of COVID-19.

On the other hand, in his letter to Prime Minister Boris Johnson, PM Imran Khan conveyed best wishes and prayers for the earliest recovery and good health of Prime Minister Boris Johnson.


Countrywide lockdown to continue till April 14


In an effort to stop the spread of coronavirus, the National Coordination Committee (NCC) has decided to extend the countrywide lockdown till April 14.

Federal Minister for Planning Asad Umar informed that goods transport carrying food will remain open, while medicines will be available for the general public in all four provinces of the country.
