CM Buzdar announces 20 percent fee waiver for students of private schools

Educational institutions will remain closed till May 31 across the province.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has on Monday announced 20 percent fee waiver for all students of private schools of the province.

The relaxation has been provided for two months of summer vacations. Furthermore, the educational institutions have been directed not to collect the two-month fee at a time.

Chief Minister of Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar also visited Central PCR lab in personal protection equipment (PPE).



CM Usman Buzdar was told that lab is capable to conduct 2000 coronavirus tests per day.



The chief minister said that more than 3100 coronavirus tests are being conducted every day in Punjab. The testing capacity will be increased to 5000 per day in the next two weeks, he told.



The CM said that Rs. 620 million has been released to the health department for the up-gradation of labs in different cities. Field hospitals of 300 beds in Gujranwala, 400 beds in Gujrat, 300 beds in Mandi Bahauddin, 200 beds in Sialkot and 250 beds in Jehlum will be operational from today, he announced.

Sardar Usman Buzdar further said that the total amount of the relief package has been increased from Rs 4000 to Rs 12000 for 2.5 million families, however, 15 million people have applied for the relief package.

Provincial health minister Dr Yasmin, Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chohan, Secretary Information and other officials stayed outside while CM Buzdar was visiting the lab.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Punjab Cabinet had on March 24 approved corona ordinance 2020 to prevent the spread of coronavirus across the province.
