90 percent coronavirus patients asymptomatic: Dr. Yasmin Rashid
She said that in total 18,269 people have been tested for the virus
LAHORE (Dunya News) - Provincial Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid has said that in Punjab, there are only two patients of coronavirus in critical condition and that 90% of patients do not show symptoms of the virus while the rest experience fever and coughs.
Talking to Dunya News program “Ikhtalafi Note”, the Health Minister said that 10,000 people belonging to Tableeghi Jamat and 187 people are admitted in different hospitals. She said that in total 18,269 people have been tested for the virus.
She added that Chinese doctors are helping us a lot and they have expressed satisfaction over the training our doctors have received. She said that today, they had a four-hour session with Chinese doctors in which the use of Plasma to treat patients was discussed. Dr tahir Shamsi has started work on this regard in Karachi.
Dr Yasmin Rashid said that some people are privately getting tested for coronavirus but the government is going to provide a 24 hour coronavirus test service in Expo Center which anyone will be able to make use of.
She further said that all provinces are taking preventive measures against the spread of the coronavirus and the situation was relatively under control. She said that there is a 1000-bed facility in Lahore in addition to 500 beds in Mayo Hospital but the focus is on minimizing the number of patients.
Dr Yasmin Rashid said that at present there are 210 patients, PKLI has 28 patients while some patients have been kept in General Hospital but arrangements have been made to accommodate 10 thousand patients.
In the program, the provincial health minister said that because of the lockdown, the spread of the virus has reduced. She said that there were not enough resources to have conducted more tests, the number of tests will be raised to four to five thousand people by next week.
