PM Imran chairs NCC meeting on coronavirus situation in country
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Friday has chaired meeting of National Coordination Committee (NCC) on the situation caused by the outbreak of coronavirus in the country.
According to details, all the chief ministers and federal leaders participated in the meeting via video link.
The condition of communication process in the country after lockdown was discussed in the session while the attendees also deliberated on the steps taken by the government in curbing the virus.
Previously, NCC had decided to limit the congregational prayers in mosques and also extended the closure of educational institutions till May 31.
Addressing the media briefing on coronavirus update along with Minister for Religious Affairs Pir Noor ul Haq Qadri, Special Assistant on Information Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan, Special Assistant on Health Dr. Zafar Mirza and Chairman NDMA Lt. Gen. Muhammad Afzal, Federal Minister for Planning Asad Umar said that national strategy is being fully implemented to cope with the threat of coronavirus pandemic.
The minister said that the pandemic has spread to more than 182 country, adding that the global crisis is also affecting Pakistan. He said that the citizens should also do their part to prevent the spread of the virus.
Regarding transportation issues and problems of fuel supplies in some areas of the country, the minister said the issue would be discussed in tomorrow’s meeting for sorting out a solution to ensure smooth fuel supplies.
He said the medical staff engaged in treating the coronavirus patients were the front line warriors.
