ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Government has offered to negotiate terms of social media regulatory measures with major social media companies.
According to sources, the government has invited social media companies including Google, Facebook, Twitter to the negotiating table to understand their reservations regarding the regulatory measures. To this end, Chairman Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Amir Azeem Bajwa has written to the managing director of Asia Internet Coalition (AIC).
The letter by PTA has asked AIC to take part in the consultation process and discuss citizen protection rules either directly or through video conferencing.
Pakistani officials have requested AIC and its members to communicate with the advisory committee and voice their concerns and apprehensions on the proposed regulatory measures.
