LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab Minister for Health Dr Yasmin Rashid has on Friday said that a new technical team has been formed to counter the coronavirus epidemic which will submit its report after every four hours.
The health minister addressed a press conference in Lahore and told that it will be considered upon the team’s recommendations to close educational institutions and ban public gatherings if the condition worsens.
“The situation of every epidemic disease changes on daily basis. Coronavirus has spread in 82 countries and cases in Italy, Iran, Iraq and China are more than other countries. More than 3,000 people have died of the virus in China and fatalities in other countries are now increasing.
“The viral infection affects children and elderly people more and over 80,000 people suffered from this disease worldwide. The fatality rate is three percent.
“Six cases have been reported in Pakistan. 2,500 pilgrims have been placed under quarantine who had returned from Iran. Screening of 2,700 individuals has been completed.
“Healthy people do not need to wear masks. Only those who are suffering from coronavirus and those who visit them should wear face masks. Everyone should wash hands as much as possible and avoid touching face.
“Rawalpindi Institute of Urology and Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital, Muzaffargarh have been allocated for the coronavirus patients. More than ten thousand people have been given training as the virus spreads very quickly.”
