11 killed as heavy rain lashes parts of country
LAHORE (Dunya News) – At least 11 people have lost their lives in a recent spell of heavy rains across the country, Dunya News reported on Friday.
According to details, two children were killed as roof of a house collapsed in Okara. The security personnel and rescue teams arrived at the scene and launched an operation.
Separately, one person was killed in Kabirwala due to torrential rain.
On the other hand, Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued alert in a wake of possible flooding in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) nullahs.
Earlier, spillways of Rawal Dam were opened after increase in water level following heavy rain in twin cities. The officials said that the gates of the spillways will remain open for few hours.
They also informed that the Rawal Dam has the capacity to hold 1752ft water and the gates of the spillways will remain open till the water level comes down to 1751.40ft.
