Hearing on bail pleas of Shahid Khaqan, Ahsan Iqbal adjourned till Tuesday
A bench comprising CJ IHC Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Lubna Saleem heard bail pleas
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday adjourned hearing on bail pleas of Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Ahsan Iqbal till Tuesday.
Ahsan Iqbal’s lawyer, in his arguments, resorted to Nawaz Sharif’s case and said that NAB used to consider Nawaz Sharif’s case as the biggest case. He asked, “If Nawaz Sharif’s trial has been completed without arrest, than why cannot this happen in rest of the cases?”
According to details, a division bench comprising Chief Justice of IHC Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Lubna Saleem Pervaiz heard the post-arrest bail pleas of former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and former minister Ahsan Iqbal.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s lawyer Barrister Zafarullah, in his arguments said that former chief justice had said that these cases were filed for political engineering. On this, CJ Athar Minallah remarked that Supreme Court (SC) has also elaborated the circumstances under which arrest warrants can be issued.
Chief Justice Athar Minallah adjourned the hearing till Tuesday and said that NAB prosecutor has asked for a day’s leave.
