AJK govt extends winter vacations till January 12

Schools and colleges will remain closed till January 12 and will be open from January 13.

MUZAFFARABAD (Dunya News) – The government of Azad Jammu & Kashmir has extended the winter vacations due to intense cold weather till January 12.

The notification issued earlier about the extending winter vacations.

According to the notification, schools and colleges will remain closed till January 12 and will be open from January 13.

On Sunday, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had extended winter vacations till January 7 to keep the children safe from the harsh weather.

The announcement was made by Adviser to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister on Education Ziaullah Bangash saying the schools across province would reopen on January 7 instead of January 1 due to severe winter in the province.

He said that the decision has been taken on the directions of KP CM Mahmood Khan

A wave of cold has gripped the country. Schools in KP were to resume educational activities on January 1, 2019.

On the other hand, Federal Government Educational Institutions (FGEI) Cantt and Garrison have also extended winter vacations to keep the children safe from the harsh weather.

According to spokesman FGEIs Directorate, FGEI cantt garrison schools across the country would remain closed until January 5, 2020 due to winter vacations and schools will reopen on January 6, 2020.

FGEIs Directorate has issued a schedule to enhance the winter vacations in view of the prevailing cold wave that would help in mitigating the suffering of the school going children.
