DCC reviews PNS situation, approves operations against terrorist

Defence Committee of the Cabinet approved all kind of measures to destroy all hideout of terrorists.

The Defence Committee of the Cabinet (DCC) meeting chaired by Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani was held at the PM House. The meeting was attended by Federal Interior and Finance Ministers and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar.In the meeting, the security situation was reviewed in context to the terrorist attack on the Pakistan Naval Station Mehran in Karachi. It was decided in the meeting that security, defence and law enforcement agencies will be authorized to use all means, necessary to eliminate terrorists and militants.It was decided in the meeting that national security is the foremost priority and all arms of the government will ensure that terrorists hideouts will be destroyed, using all appropriate means. It was also decided that the DCC will continue to meet regularly to develop further, update and closely monitor implementation of the counter-terrorism strategy.Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee General Khalid Shameem Wynne, Army Chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, Director General Inter-Services Intelligence Lt Gen Ahmed Shuja Pasha, Finance Secretary, Foreign Secretary and Cabinet Secretary were also present in the meeting.
