Lawmakers burst with anger over gas shortage across country

No gas is available to cook breakfast or lunch, Syed Agha Rafiullah told the committee.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Assembly members burst with anger during a session of Standing Committee on Energy on Thursday due to gas shortage across the country.

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) MNA Syed Agha Rafiullah told the meeting that gas situation in Karachi is way too serious. “No gas is available to cook breakfast or lunch”, he expressed. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf lawmaker Noor Alam Khan supported Rafiullah’s statement, and said that Peshawar is also affected by the shortage of gas. “People should be given their right even if they burn any statue now”, he added.

Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) chairperson apprised the committee that Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has been allowed three and a half million gas connections on his request.
