LHC Bar Association announces to observe strike today

Strike call has been given after administration refused to release lawyers involved in PIC attack.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – The president of Lahore High Court Bar Association, Fafiz-ur-Rehman, has announced to observe strike today (Thursday) after the local administration refused to release the lawyers who were arrested during lawyers attack on the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) in Lahore on Wednesday.

According to sources, two-hour negotiations between local administration and officials of lawyers  organizations were held at the CCPO office on Wednesday night during which Punjab Law Minister Raja Basharat.

During the meeting, leaders of the lawyers  organizations demanded immediate release of arrested lawyers but the administration refused to accept their demand.

Officials of lawyers  organizations then reached the Lahore High Court Bar Association and announced that their negotiations with the local administration ended in a deadlock. Later, LHC Bar Association president announce to observe strike on Thursday

Officials of lawyers  organizations said that they will announce the next course of action after their next meeting. The leaders of lawyers  organizations also held meeting with newly-nominated Chief Justice of Lahore High Court (LHC), Justice Mamun Rashid Sheikh.
