CEC Sardar Raza retires after completion of five-year term
Altaf Ibrahim Qureshi will take oath as Acting Chief Election Commissioner today (Friday).
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice (retd) Sardar Raza retired on Thursday after completing his term of five years, Dunya News reported.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) became non-functional with the retirement of Chief Election Commissioner while the appointments of the ECP members from Sindh and Balochistan have not been finalized yet.
According to sources, three out of five members are required to keep the Election Commission functional. On the other hand, Parliamentary Committee for appointment of Chief Election Commissioner ECP members from Sindh and Balochistan is scheduled to meet on December 9.
Meanwhile, Altaf Ibrahim Qureshi will take oath as Acting Chief Election Commissioner today (Friday).
