President can appoint COAS on PM's advice as per constitution: Babar Awan
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Senior advocate and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Babar Awan on Wednesday has said, "It is mentioned in the Constitution of Pakistan that the president can appoint Chief of Army Staff (COAS) on the advice of Prime Minister."
While exclusively talking to Dunya News regarding extension in General Qamar Bajwa’s tenure case, Awan asserted that Constitution also allows federal government to run the Pakistan army.
Supreme Court (SC) is authorized to provide guidelines for future cases of the same nature, he told.
Awan further said the court exercise the right of judicial review and that legislation on any matter can only be carried out by the Parliament.
