Firdous Ashiq said that the government does not want to politicize Nawaz Sharif's health.

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Firdous Ashiq Awan said that the government has shown great compassion on the health of Nawaz Sharif under legal and humanitarian grounds, and respects the judicial decision.

Talking to Dunya News, SAPM Awan expressed that the court’s decision regarding Nawaz’s name removal from the ECL is acceptable whereas they are waiting for a detailed verdict.

Referring to exemption of the indemnity bonds, she asserted that the cabinet had decided that a bail bond of Rs7 billion should be obtained. “What will be the legality of the draft if the decision is unconditional?” she asked, adding that the government will adopt a clear strategy after the detailed verdict.

Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said that the request of Nawaz Sharif’s to travel abroad came to the Interior Ministry after he was granted bail. “The plea was forwarded to the cabinet and it was decided that he submits his fines which were imposed by the court”, she expressed, adding these penalties were not imposed by the government.

SAPM Awan asserted that the government formed the medical board for the PML-N supremo and the law officer of the government did not go against his bail, because they did not want to politicize Nawaz’s health.

She went on to say they cannot take a final decision about their legal and constitutional steps without reading the detailed verdict as all these roots are interconnected.

Earlier, while rejecting the objection by federal government on its proposed draft, the Lahore High Court on Saturday ordered to remove name of former premier from Exit Control List (ECL) and allowed him to travel abroad to get health treatment for four weeks.
