Govt decides to consult opposition again on ECP members' appointment
NA Speaker said they would do their best to resolve the issue in a smooth manner with opposition.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The government has decided to hold meeting with the opposition again on the appointment of members of the Election Commission.
A consultative meeting on the issue of the appointment of ECP members was attended by the Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani, Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser, Law Minister Farogh Naseem, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Muhammad Azam Khan Swati, Secretary Law, Secretary Parliamentary Affairs and legal experts.
NA Speaker said that the matter will be resolved according to law and constitution. “The meeting agreed to consult with the opposition to resolve the issue with goodwill”, he said adding that they respect the judiciary and the law of the country.
Asad Qaiser expresed they would do their best to resolve the issue in a smooth manner. The meeting called for an opinion from the Attorney General and legal experts.
