Cyclone Kyarr: Sea water enters homes in various localities of Karachi

More than 100 families have been evacuated and shifted to nearby buildings of colleges and schools.

KARACHI (Dunya News) - Cyclonic storm Kyarr, which developed in the east central Arabian Sea, continues to affect the coastal belt near Karachi as seawater entered homes in various localities of Karachi on Monday night, Dunya News reported.

According to details, seawater entered residential areas in Kemari, Lath Basti, Chashma, Malkani and Bul localities of Rehri Goth area. Seawater also entered in homes in Kemari Bhatta Village, Baba Bhat Island while the seawater also affected the DHA Golf Club.

The Fisherman Co-operative Society volunteers and employees have launch rescue operation in the affected areas and more than 100 families have been evacuated and shifted to nearby buildings of colleges and schools.

The Fisherman Co-operative Society employees have also asked the maritime security to provided plastic boats for conducting rescue operation in the affected area.

According to Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) Cyclone Kyarr is expected to bring rainfall in lower Sindh region and the coastal belt of Makran. The met office said the lower Sindh and Makran are expected to receive rainfall till November 2 under the influence of the Cyclone Kyarr.

The PMD further advised fishermen to remain alert and not to venture in deep sea from today. On the other hand, Sindh government has imposed Section 144 in the coastal areas of Sindh with immediate effect.
