Petition demanded to keep protest in the fixed place to avoid disruption in daily life of the people

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has set hearing of the petition against the ‘Azadi March’ of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman which is scheduled to take place on October 27 against the incumbent government.

According to details, IHC Justice Athar Minallah will hear the case on October 9 (Wednesday) against the ‘Azadi March’ and sit-in protest of JUI-F chief. Islamabad High Court Registrar’s Office has issued a cause list.

The petitioner requested to prevent Maulana Fazlur Rehman from holding the freedom march and demonstration in the capital. The Supreme Court and the Islamabad High Court have ordered fixed place to be the premises of protest and the sit-in should remain there to avoid disruption in routine of the people, petition read.

The petition filed by the citizen has made Interior Secretary, Secretary Education, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad and Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) Chairman a party in the case.

On Oct. 6, Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman said that the whole country would turn into a battlefield once protests are started against the incumbent government, Dunya News reported.

The JUI-F chief talked to media in Peshawar and announced that the first destination of Azadi March will be Islamabad. He affirmed that the masses in huge numbers will sweep away the Pakistan-Tehreek-e-Insaf-led government and said he will use plan B and C if need be.

“The country’s economy has been destroyed and employment opportunities have been brought to an end. We will become the voice of a common man and Pakistan.

“Our demand will be to conduct fresh elections. Business community is already protesting owing to taxes and time has come to send the ineligible and illegitimate government packing.

“We are not afraid of arrests as they will worsen the situation. Former president Asif Ali Zardari is supporting the Azadi March as there is no disappointment from any side.

“Government wants to gain international support by highlighting the madrassah (religious seminaries) issue.

“Imran Khan has put Pakistan in trouble by talking about nuclear war. It is a diplomatic failure of Pakistan to indulge in warmongering.”

Earlier on Oct. 3, JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman announced that the “Azadi March” will begin on October 27 after staging protest demonstration on to express solidarity with the people of Indian-occupied Kashmir.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Thursday, he said that he had positive discussion with Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and soon the government will be sent packing.

The JUI-F chief said that there will not be compromise with the government on any issue, adding that neither he has intention to change the date of the march nor anyone was asking him.

"The incumbent government is the result of a fake election and fake results," he said and added "We will gather on D-Chowk."
