US presidential candidates raise Kashmir issue as Indian curfew enters 43rd day.
SRINAGAR (Web Desk) – Two US Democratic presidential candidates Kamala Harris and Beto O Rourke have expressed serious concerns over deteriorating situation in Occupied Kashmir as Indian curfew has entered 43rd day on Monday (today).
According to Kashmir Media Service, the presidential candidates made the comments during the meeting with Pakistani American Texas-based leading Pakistani businessman and high ranking influential member of the Democratic Party Tahir Javed and his fellow Nouman Hussain.
Beto O’Rourke – in a race of Democratic presidential candidate – expressed serious concerns, saying that the US must come forward and put its efforts for ensuring peace and stability in the South Asia.
Harris said, “We have to remind the Kashmiris that they are not alone in the world. We are keeping a track on the situation. There is a need to intervene if the situation demands.”
Meanwhile, the humanitarian crisis is aggravating further as hundreds of thousands of Indian troops deployed in every nook and corner continue to keep millions of people confined to their homes in the held valley.
The telecom sector of the territory has suffered a loss of more than 900 million rupees in last one month. An official of a telecom company told media that it would become difficult for the operators to continue their services if the Indian government did not lift the restrictions on mobile services and data in occupied Kashmir.
Global human rights watchdog, Amnesty International in a video posted on Twitter demanded to end lockdown in occupied Kashmir and urged India to let the people of the territory speak.
