Ehtesab Bureau spends more than Rs160 million annually for a total of 222 employees.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Azad Kashmir Ehtesab Bureau (EB) failed to appoint a permanent chairman for last three years whereas the temporary appointment process also halted with hundreds of cases pending.

The post of EB chairman was vacated in June 2016. The government continued to appoint different chairmen on a temporary basis instead of a permanent one to stop the alleged corruption investigation in the government departments.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government has not made a temporary appointment for EB chairman for the last three months, which has almost ended the accountability process in Azad Kashmir.

After 19 years of the EB, established in October 2000, its service rules still could not be finalized which has made its employees anxious about their future.

The Accountability Bureau spends more than Rs160 million annually for a total of 222 employees, including court staff and the police department, which is not benefiting the common man at all.
