Only Rs 282 billion were collected as tax in July as compared to estimated Rs292 billion: Hafeez She

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Finance Advisor Abdul Hafeez Sheikh said its not an easy task to move economy on good track. He admitted that no improvement in tax collection witnessed so far.

Talking to journalists in an informal discussion, Hafeez Sheikh said criticism on Rs 7600 billion loans is not appropriate as it must be noticed how much loans were taken by government for its own expenditures. He said the process of privatization would be expedited.

He said out of Rs 3800 billion collected in context of taxes, Rs 2100 billion were paid back for loans while only Rs 282 billion were collected as tax in July as compared to estimated Rs292 billion.

Responding to a question, he said the process of privatization needs to expedited, adding that government is reviewing developmental programs. He said it would be examined where those funds were used.
