Anti-polio vaccination drive starts in KP, Balochistan

Sindh Chief Minister has taken notice of two new polio cases reported from Hyderabad.

PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – An anti-polio vaccination campaign has started today (Aug 26) in different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan and strict security measures have been arranged for the drive.

According to the details, the polio drive started today which will vaccinate million of children whereas many children in Bannu, Tank, Swabi and Battagram districts were already vaccinated.

According to Provincial Health Department, more than four million children below the age of five years will be administered anti-polio drops during the campaign.

Deputy Commissioner Saleha Saeed said five thousand teams have been constituted to administer anti-polio vaccine to 1.8 million children up to five years of age. She urged parents to cooperate with polio teams to eradicate polio from the city.

Meanwhile, a seven-day special polio campaign has also begun in Quetta. Anti-polio drive in other districts of Balochistan like Naseerabad, Jaffarabad, Jhal Magsiand Sahabatpur will start on August 28, while polio drive will begin in Qilla Abdullah district on September 2.

On the other hand, a four-day anti-polio drive took place in Hyderabad. Polio vaccination has been set to target 340,000 children under the age of five. Police have been deployed to protect polio vaccination teams.

Over four thousand teams have been constituted for administering polio drops to the children at their doorsteps. The government has devised comprehensive plan for security of the polio teams.

Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has taken notice of two new polio cases reported from Hyderabad.


CM  Buzdar directs for vigorous anti-polio campaign


Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has directed to launch vigorous anti-polio campaign adding that effective measures are being taken in this regard. He said that 100 percent implementation on anti-polio plan should be ensured and anti-polio teams should be monitored in the field.

He made it clear that negligence will not be tolerated and strict action will be taken in case of any negligence. “We will win fight against polio and the children will be saved from this deadly disease”, he added. “The parents should administer anti-polio drops to their children. This disease will be overcome with collective efforts as it is a national issue”, he added.
