SC remarked that police testimony is sufficient in the absence of any other witness.

ISLA MABAD (Dunya News) – The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Thursday remarked that the testimony of the police cannot be declared inadmissible and courts can rely on the testimony of police as per law.

In a two-page decision, SC stated that the standard for the testimony of police and common witnesses is the same and the police are as good witnesses as anyone else can be. Police testimony is sufficient in the absence of any other witness. The court remarked that it is not correct to state that the testimony of the police alone cannot be relied upon.

According to the details, a case was heard by the SC for spreading hateful content. SC rejected the plea bargain of Qari Ishaq Ghazi and imprisoned him for five years along with a fine of Rs1 lac.

The Supreme Court, in its judgment, stated that not only to spread but even to keep the hateful content is a big crime. It is noteworthy that the accused Qari Ishaq was arrested by Okara Police for promoting prohibited material in 2015.
