Waseem Akhtar urges Karachiites not to pay taxes to Sindh government.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar has Tuesday urged Karachiites not to pay taxes to the Sindh government after the worst condition of the metropolis.

Waseem Akhtar said the people of Karachi pay over Rs350 billion to the provincial government in name of motor vehicle tax, property tax, professional tax, tower tax and other charges but the city still does not have adequate machinery.

The mayor inaugurated cleanliness campaign in Korangi District and talked to media. He admitted that this is not the permanent solution of issue.

Annoyed over the city’s condition, Waseem Akhtar asked for help from the federal government and Bahria Town. He demanded audit of the Rs24 billion which were spent in the cleanliness drive.

On the other hand, the locals got furious before Waseem Akhtar’s arrival and said drama is being staged today as the garbage had been piling up for years in the area. They stopped the vehicles from removing the trash but the Sindh Rangers controlled the situation.
