One more patient diagnosed with Congo virus in Karachi

The death toll from the deadly virus in Karachi has reached nine during the ongoing year.

KARACHI (Dunya News) - One more patient diagnosed with deadly Congo virus was admitted in Karachi’s Zia-ud-Din Hospital on Friday, Dunya News reported.

According to details, 25-year-old Ahmad Shoaib from North Nazimabad was brought to the hospital on August 14. Ahmad Shoaib’s blood samples were sent to laboratory for tests and found positive for the disease.

At least 15 patients infected with the Congo virus have so far been brought to various private and government hospitals during current year, out of which nine died of the disease.

Congo fever is a tick-borne viral disease which is mainly transferred to humans from pets. The symptoms of the viral disease may include fever, muscle pains, headache, vomiting, diarrhea, and bleeding into the skin. Complications may also include liver failure.
