India is consistently violating human rights: Qureshi

LAHORE (Dunya News)- Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said India is jeopardizing regional peace through its war hysteria. He said India is consistently violating human rights and Kashmir is escaping from the hands of India.

Talking exclusively in Dunya News program Sawaal Awam Ka, he said international community should take notice of violations committed by Indian forces. He said Pakistan would consider other options now after India rejected US mediation on Kashmir issue. He said Pakistan had already sensed that India may take such deplorable action.

Foreign minister said I have already written to UN Secretary General about Indian violations across LoC and told him about my concerns. Qureshi added that India has validated our concerns after using cluster bombs on innocent civilians.

He said international community must know that use of cluster bombs on civilians is prohibited under 2008 Geneva Convention. He said India never used such bombs on civilians before but killing of common people is deteriorating the situation in Kashmir which is escaping from the hands of India.

He said India only wants some tragic incident to happen so that fingers could be pointed at Pakistan but we will solve the situation through our diplomacy. He further said International community should pressurize New Dehli to come to negotiation table to solve the issues for the peace in the region. He said Pakistan is left with no other option after India rejected Trump’s mediation offer on Kashmir.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi wrote a letter to the Secretary General of the United Nations (UN) António Guterres which was also conveyed to the members of the Security Council following an attack using cluster ammunition to target the civilian population across the Line of Control (LoC) by Indian Army.

FM Qureshi said that India in its war madness is not only sabotaging the regional peace but also committing gross violation of human rights along the LoC. "I urge the nations of the world to take strict notice of the ongoing situation in IOK and LOC”, he added.

Pakistan’s Ambassador at the UN expressed that letter talked about the alarming situation of the Kashmir, rights violation by the India and unprovoked firing across the LoC by Indian forces.

Lodhi tweeted that FM Qureshi’s letter to UNSG also expressed concern at reports that India is preparing ground to change status of Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. “Pakistan has consistently opposed any move that could alter situation in IoK as it would violate Security Council resolutions,” she added.
