President Arif Alvi, PM Khan express grief over loss of lives in Rawalpindi plane crash

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - President Arif Alvi and Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Tuesday expressed grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives in the military aircraft crash in Rawalpindi.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan and Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar also expressed grief about the loss of lives in the incident.

It is to be mentioned here that at least 18 people were killed while 16 others sustained severe wounds when an Army Aviation plane crashed into a residential area near Rabi Plaza in the jurisdiction of Rawat Police Station in the wee hours of Tuesday.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the plane was on it routine flight when it crashed near Rabi Plaza. Two pilots and three crew members of the plane were among the dead.

Corps Commander Rawalpindi Lieutenant General Bilal Akbar visited the site of the plane crash where he was briefed by Pakistan Army officers on the mishap.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army personnel who died in the plane crash included Lt Col Saqib and Wasim, Naib Subedar Afzal, Hawaldar Ibne Amin and Rahmat.
