Fake trust deed: Accountability court turns down NAB's plea against Maryam Nawaz
Maryam Nawaz said PTI government is struggling to suppress the voice of opposition.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Accountability court on Friday has turned down petition of National Accountability Bureau (NAB), claiming Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) vice president Maryam Nawaz had produced a bogus trust deed in Avenfield reference.
During the proceedings, Judge Mohammad Bashir declared anti-corruption watchdog’s appeal as unmaintainable and ruled that no action can be taken in this regard until the decision of Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Maryam’s petition against the Avenfield properties verdict.
Maryam, while wearing shirt having words ‘Free Nawaz Sharif’, arrived at the court and said, "Those who had paralysed Islamabad l for 126 days should be ashamed of such acts. Their fear of Maryam Nawaz preceded my presence in the capital. If you were this afraid you should not have gotten selected."

Talking to media after the hearing, Maryam Nawaz said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government is weak and incompetent that it is struggling to suppress the voice of opposition. We are ready to allow five-year term to government whereas masses opt otherwise, she added.
On the occasion, strict security measures were ensured to avoid any untoward situation while 12 PML-N activists were also arrested for disturbing the law and order situation in the metropolis.
Appearing before the court, Maryam took to social networking site Twitter and posted that Allah is sufficient for her.

It is to be mentioned here that the court took action on the plea submitted by National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) Deputy Prosecutor General Sardar Muzaffar Khan Abbasi and issued notice to Maryam Nawaz to appear on July 19. The plaintiff claimed that Maryam Nawaz had produced a bogus trust deed before the court in order to conceal the London properties.
NAB application read, “The above conclusion [that the document used was bogus] by this court was reached after evaluating the entire evidence; hence, it is apparent that the respondent has maliciously fabricated and tendered false evidence/information with the intention to mislead the due process of law and trial and hamper the administration of justice.”
On July 6, 2018, accountability judge Mohammad Bashir had convicted former premier Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz in Avenfield properties reference and sentenced them 10 years and 07 years imprisonment, respectively.
In the verdict, judge Bashir had declared that “The trust deeds produced by the accused Maryam Nawaz were also found bogus… In view of the role of this accused Maryam Nawaz, she is convicted and sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for seven years with fine of two million pounds.”
Subsequently, she was arrested and shifted to Adiala jail. Later, in September 2018, she was released from jail after the Islamabad High Court suspended her prison sentence.
