Approach NAB chief for plea bargain, says Shahzad Akbar
Shahzad Akbar challenged Shehbaz Sharif to start a trial against him in the British court.
LAHORE (Dunya News) - Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Accountability Shahzad Akbar on Thursday told that political figures and their families have to make a deal with the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (rtrd) Javed Iqbal in order to get the plea bargain.
He said that political figures, such as ex-president Asif Ali Zardari, former premier Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Shehbaz Sharif or any of their family members can get free by returning the looted money according to the political way but NAB and the Accountability Court hold the power to give the legal decision. “They can return the looted money as we also have no interest in spending the money on their security in jail,” he added.
While responding to the press conference of Shehbaz Sharif, he expressed that Leader of the Opposition should not mislead the nation and answer the questions. “His son-in-law has escaped the country and had no deal with Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA)”, he added. He further said that Shehbaz Sharif manipulated the poor and sent his son-in-law out of the country whereas he also did not answer to one of the questions at the press conference. “I did not even understand his justification on the case of Naveed Ikram as well,” he expressed.
Shahzad Akbar challenged Shehbaz Sharif again saying that he promised to start a trial against him in the British court for which he is waiting anxiously. He further added that notices from PML-N leader won’t work unless he receives a notice from the court. “For the sake of God, plead the case in London‘s court”, he asserted
He went to say that it would be wrong to say that they are only assessing the opposition in cases, regarding the accountability in past period as musical chair game. He acknowledged their weak prosecution saying that it will take time to fix the institutes in order to conduct better prosecution.
Shahzad Akbar asserted that corruption of whole Sharif family has been unfolded by the story of Daily Mail. “We, all, know earthquake occurred in 2005 but we are asking for the three payments made for the affectees”, he maintained.
