Nandipur Power case: NAB challenges Babar Awan's acquittal in IHC
The petition stated that the acquittal of both the accused will affect the trial.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Wednesday approached the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to challenge the acquittal of ex-law minister Dr Babar Awan and Justice (r) Riaz Kiyani from trial court in Nandipur Power case.
NAB Deputy Prosecutor General Sardar Muzafar Abbasi filed the appeal in the IHC.
The petition stated that the acquittal of both the accused will affect the trial.
The anti-graft watchdog had also included the investigation report on delaying execution of the project and charges against the accused persons in its appeal.
The petition further stated that the delay in execution of the project had caused a loss of Rs27.3 billion to the national exchequer.
The decision of accountability court was taken in haste and against the standards of justice, it further added.
The petition prayed the court to set aside the decision of accountability court dated June 25, acquitting Babar Awan and Riaz Kiyani.
