PTI moves ECP to disqualify Faryal Talpur as lawmaker
Haleem Adil said Talpur will be disqualified within a month if Speaker shows impartiality.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Sindh Assembly leader Haleem Adil Sheikh moved the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday to disqualify Faryal Talpur, sister of former President Asif Ali Zardari, as a legislature of Sindh Assembly.
According to the details, the petition filed by the PTI member stated that Faryal Talpur is not eligible for Assembly due to her alleged money laundering and corruption references.
Haleem Adil asserted that Faryal Talpur is involved in fake accounts, money laundering and corruption references, to which she must be disqualified from the provincial Assembly.
Talking to media, he criticized the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and expressed that Faryal will be disqualified within a month if Speaker shows impartiality.
Extended Physicial Remand
An accountability court in Islamabad extended physical remand of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) senior leader Faryal Talpur, the sister of former president Asif Ali Zardari, till July 8 in the mega money laundering through fake bank accounts case.
Thereby, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Rawalpindi has been allowed to further interrogate her for 14 days in the case.
During the previous hearing on June 15, the court had sent Talpur to a nine-day physical remand under the custody of NAB Rawalpindi until June 24 for further interrogation into the case.
An investigation team, including female investigators, has been interrogating her at Zardari House, Islamabad, which was notified as a sub-jail by the NAB chairman earlier "for the purposes of detention of accused under the NAO, 1999", according to a notification issued by the accountability watchdog.
The court was told that suspicious transactions of billions of rupees had been made in the bank account of the Zardari Group from the fake bank accounts, and the account had been operated by Talpur.
NAB arrests Talpur
On June 15, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) detained Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) leader and sister of former president Asif Ali Zardar, Faryal Talpur in case pertaining to fake accounts.
The statement further stated that she would be under house arrest till further orders, adding that the Bureau’s female personnel have been deployed at her residence.
As many as 12 lady police personnel have been deployed at Talpur’s residence.
Former president and Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari had surrendered himself to a team of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) after Islamabad High Court (IHC) rejected Asif Ali Zardari and Faryal Talpur’s pre-arrest bail plea in the money laundering case.
Following the refusal of his pre-arrest bail, a team of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) accompanied by police personnel had reached the residence of PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari in order to arrest him.
