Ishaq Dar might have sought political asylum: Shehzad Akbar

Contrarily, Ali Dar, the son of Ishaq Dar, has denied this claim.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (PM) on Accountability Shehzad Akbar on Wednesday, in his exclusive talk in the programme ‘Dunya Kamran Khan Kay Sath’, said that former finance minister Ishaq Dar might have already applied for a political asylum in Britain.

Contrarily, Ali Dar, the son of Ishaq Dar, has denied this claim.

According to him, his father went to the Home Office of the UK to inform about the media trial as he believed that Pakistan would use the memorandum, as the extradition documents for Dar are expected to be signed with Britain, against him.

Ali Dar, son of former FM, denied his application request and expressed that Dar just informed the Home Office about the propaganda being exercised against him.

Yesterday, an accountability court demanded verified records against Dar, who has been accused in accumulating assets beyond his known sources of income.

Justice Muhammad Bashir had heard the reference pertaining to assets beyond means case in Islamabad, and ordered the investigation officer (IO) to submit the original call-up record that was sent to the accused Dar.

During the hearing, IO Nadir Abbas statement could not be recorded, and his statement is scheduled to be recorded in the next hearing.

The court hearing was adjourned till June 26.
