Senate session adjourned till Thursday as members create ruckus

Syed Shibli Faraz asserted that efforts are being made to threaten the nation by ensuring anarchy through religious speeches.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Senate called security to control the ruckus created by government members today (June 19) when Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) leader Maulana Atta Ur Rehman said that Prime Minister Imran Khan insulted ‘sahaba’ while addressing to nation.

Leader of the House Syed Shibli Faraz asserted that efforts are being made to threaten the nation by ensuring anarchy through religious speeches. “This fire will burn everyone”, he added. Opposition members asked to prevent PM from talking about religion.

Government members stood up when Maulana Atta Ur Rehman started delivering his speech again. Senator Naeem Wazir tried to move towards opposition seats, while Senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar also entered in the field to fight.

The Senate called security when it was about to turn into a brawl. Senate said that the meeting could not be held in such an environment, after which the Senate meeting was adjourned till Thursday at four o’clock.
