Shoemaker pays fine for snakeskin chappal prepared for PM Khan

Wildlife department imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 and returned the shoes to Chacha Noor ud din.

(Web Desk) – The famous shoemaker ‘Chacha Noor ud din’ from Peshawar landed in deep waters with the KP Wildlife department for preparing a gift chappal made from snakeskin for PM Imran Khan.

Reportedly, KP Wildlife department on an anonymous lead, seized the pair of chappal from the famous ‘Afghan Chappal House’ located in Namak Mandi area in Peshawar.

According to the department, law prohibits making of such shoes from snakeskin and therefore the chappal was taken from the store for further inspection.

Chacha Noor ud din found himself in a catch-22 situation for he was sent the snakeskin leather from a well-wisher residing in the US.

The total cost incurred in its preparation was approx. Rs 40,000.

‘I wasn’t aware of any such ban on snakeskin leather products. PM Khan’s fan from US sent me the snakeskin leather and asked to prepare a pair for the premier and a pair for him.’

Adamant to present the chappal to the Prime Minister, ‘Chacha’ was ready for any fine imposed from the department’s side but wanted the pair of shoes back as he hasn’t done anything illegal.

‘I will pay off any fine or tax, but please give me back Khan sb’s chappal.’

All is well that ends well, the department imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 and returned the shoes to Chacha Noor ud din.
