ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Chief Sirajul Haq visited minor girl Farishta’s home on Wednesday and condoled with her family over the tragic incident.
Talking to media in the federal capital, the JI chief said the incident that occurred with 10-year-old Farishta is shameful. No one took action over the occurrence including Prime Minister Imran Khan, he said.
Farishta’s father expressed dissatisfaction over the police interrogation. He said it is disappointing to hear news regarding involvement of relatives in the incident. He further added that he identified the dead body of his daughter by her shawl.
A case has been lodged against the Station House Officer (SHO) and other officials of Shehzad Town Police Station for causing delay in lodging a first information report (FIR) and search operation of Farishta – who belonged to Mohmand area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Let it be known that Farishta was earlier killed after being allegedly raped in Islamabad, and her body was thrown in the forest following the horrific crime.
The girl’s family said they had reported her missing to the police on May 15. The family claimed it took the police till May 19 to register an FIR and even then a proper search was not launched. The body of the minor was discovered by locals in a forest who then informed the police.
Further details suggested that the minor girl was tortured and some parts of her body were eaten by animals. Due to less evidences, it was difficult to conduct post-mortem.
