Pakistan Ambassador to US Hussain Haqqani rejected the media assertions that Islamabad had advised Kabul to end cooperation with the United States.Talking to a US TV channel, Haqqani said that Pakistan, Afghanistan and US were working together in coordination and the three countries would be holding talks in Islamabad on May 3 for a resolution of the decade-old Afghan war. He said that the US cooperation was vital for the success of rehabilitation process in Afghanistan while Pakistan also needed US aid for various welfare projects.He admitted that there were some strategic differences with US on the issue of Afghan policy. “Very interestingly, only last week Ambassador Grossman (US special envoy for the region) and Pakistan’s foreign secretary (Salman Bashir) agreed that they are going to try and create a trilateral mechanism. They are having a meeting in Islamabad on the May 3,” Haqqani said.
