Anti judiciary speeches: SC rejects apology of PML-N leaders

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected the appeal of former PML-N MNA Waseem Akhtar Sheikh against the disqualification and imprisonment over making anti judiciary speeches during a public rally in Kasur on April 13 last year.

CJP Asif Saeed Khosa remarked that it has become a habit now first make derogatory remarks and then ask for an apology.

Hearing a case related to derogatory remarks against former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar and judiciary, the court rejected the appeal of ex MNA Waseem Akhtar Sheikh and local leader Ahmed Latif to end their imprisonment.

SC rejected their unconditional apology and maintained the conviction.

CJP Khosa remarked that anti judiciary remarks were made by persons who are not illiterate but responsible citizens. CJP further said High Court has reduced their imprisonment to 1 month but why shouldn’t we extend their imprisonment.

The lawyer of appellant told the court that my client are begging apology but SC rejected their apology and said it cannot intervene in the decision made by High Court.
