PM Imran gave remarks day after major cabinet reshuffle

ORAKZAI AGENCY (Dunya News) – A day after major cabinet reshuffle, Prime Minister Imran Khan stated that a team captain keeps changing ‘batting order’ to win the match.

Addressing a public gathering at Orakzai Agency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Prime Minister clearly stated that he will change any minister if the country is not getting any benefit from him.

“A good captain is always looking towards his team to win and is constantly monitoring his team. To win the match he needs to change the batting order or needs to remove and add players. I have changed the batting order and made replacements in my time and will do so in the future as well,“ the PM said.

On Thursday, Prime Minister Imran Khan had approved reallocation of portfolios in the federal cabinet and new appointments, including that of Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh as Advisor on Finance.

Chaudhry Fawad Hussain has been assigned portfolio of Minister for Science and Technology, Ghulam Sarwar as Federal Minister for Aviation, Ijaz Ahmed Shah as Federal Minister for Interior, Shehryar Afridi as Minister of State for States and Frontier Regions and Mohammad Mian Soomro will be Federal Minister for Privatization.

Similarly, Azam Swati has been appointed as Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh as Advisor on Finance, Dr Zafarullah Mirza, and Special Assistant to Prime Minister for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan as Special Assistant to Prime Minister for Information and Broadcasting and Nadeem Babar as Special Assistant to Prime Minister for Petroleum.

According to sources, Prime Minister Imran Khan was not satisfied with several ministers after he reviewed performance, secret reports and public opinion. The decision to remove these ministers was already taken few days ago.

Reportedly, Asad Umar was removed from the post due to weak economic policy, poor performance of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and surging dollar rate. Fawad Chaudhry was removed from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for using tough tone on the issue of MD PTV. He had also criticised several party members.

Sources further told that a committee report regarding increase in gas bills rendered Ghulam Sarwar’s position as petroleum minister weak. The federal government was facing immense pressure due to gas bills issue.

Moreover, Prime Minister was unhappy with Aamir Mehmood Kiani over increase in prices of medicines.

UPLIFT OF TRIBAL AREAS TOP PRIORITY 

PM Khan vowed not to forget the sacrifices of the masses of tribal areas and lifting them up was his utmost priority. He was well aware of the destruction that resulted from the war against terrorism, innocent people die as a result of wars.

‘I came here 27 years ago while writing my book on tribal areas, nobody is more aware of the culture of the tribal belt than me,’ he added.

Tourism will create the much needed job opportunities to bring prosperity to the beautiful region of KP.

‘I’ve instructed Chief Minister KPK, Mahmood Khan to create opportunities for tourism that will create more jobs for the youth which is the biggest challenge faced by our government.’

Prime minister said that Pakistan has more beauty than Turkey and Malaysia.

ON PTM DEMANDS

Addressing on the issue of Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) the premier said that their demands for Pashtun rights are correct but their mannerism is damaging for the country.

‘We should think of a way forward.’

The past governments did nothing for the 26 lac madrassah students. I will sit together with the organization of madrassah  and try to give science education to the madrasah students as well.
