ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Federal cabinet could not decide about the tax amnesty scheme on Tuesday and decided to form a subcommittee under Finance Minister Asad Umar to review the matters.
The Ministers said that this was not a u-turn rather PM Imran Khan called a special meeting to review the objections of cabinet members on April17.
According to Dunya News sources, the cabinet questioned how this amnesty scheme was different from previous one. The members said how they can now defend this scheme where they were earlier criticizing the scheme.
The cabinet members find it difficult to convince people about the positive results of this new amnesty scheme. They said a thorough discussion should be held on the matter.
The sources further said that FBR put 3 suggestions to turn Black money white and for new tax reforms.
The committee under Finace Minister Asad umar would decide the new percentage for tax amnesty. The cabinet would then again discuss the matter before approving it.
