NAB DG offered to settle matters with government, alleges Hamza Shahbaz.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly Hamza Shahbaz Saturday alleged that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) director general (DG) offered him to settle matters with the government and the NAB will not summon him again.
The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader held a presser in Lahore and said the NAB DG told him to withdraw fake degrees resolution and admitted that there is a lot of pressure on the anti-corruption watchdog to take action against Sharif family.
He said assets beyond income case is not a new one, the NAB is only victimizing the Sharif family and has now summoned my two sisters. Pointing towards Prime Minister Imran Khan, Hamza said Niazi-NAB nexus is behind the proceedings against us.
Hamza Shahbaz questioned the sudden change in pace of interrogation during the last ten days. It seems as if there is only Sharif family to be interrogated by the NAB in the population of 20 crore people, he continued, the inquiry had been ongoing for six months but has now been quickened.
He told that the anti-corruption watchdog had asked him to appear on April 16, but he has now been summoned on April 15.
The opposition leader in Punjab bashed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government and said country’s economy is on ventilator at the moment and inflation has made the lives of the poor difficult.
Hamza Shahbaz affirmed that naya (new) Pakistan will be established on the day when Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan will be held accountable. He said corruption worth billions of rupees was done in Peshawar but no one was held responsible.
The PML-N leader demanded the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Asif Saeed Khosa to take notice of Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry’s statement over Aleem Khan’s case.
On the other hand, the NAB spokesperson rejected the accusations leveled by Hamza Shahbaz and said the statements are given to affect the investigation that is being conducted according to the law.
