Model courts dispose of 116 cases on second day: report

Two accused were awarded death sentence by the model courts through speedy trials on second day.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - According to a report submitted by the model courts monitoring cell to Chief Justice of Pakistan, the model courts disposed of 116 cases on the second day including 43 cases of murder and 73 cases of narcotics.

According to the decisions, 2 accused were awarded death sentence while a fine of Rs 5,605,624 was also imposed on criminals. At least 13 accused were awarded life sentence while statements of 519 witnesses were recorded.

The report reveals that four cases of murders and one of narcotics were disposed of in Islamabad while verdict on 12 cases of murders and 33 cases of narcotics was announced in Punjab.

The report said that seven cases of murders and 15 cases of narcotics disposed of in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Verdict on six cases of murders and seven cases of drugs was announced in Sindh while 14 cases of murders and 17 cases of narcotics were disposed of in Balochistan.
