PM Imran not in favour of deal or relaxation: Shah Mehmood
Shah Mehmood said NAB was an independent institution and Govt was not interfering into its matters.
MULTAN (Dunya News) - Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Sunday said that Prime Minister Imran Khan was not in favour of any deal or relaxation, adding that National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was an independent institution and the government was not interfering into its matters.
Talking to media in Multan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that six months ago Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) were rivals but joined hands in by-election in Punjab Assembly constituency PP-218.
Shah Mehmood said that masses rejected the PPP and PML-N in the by-election in PP-218 (Multan VIII) and reposed confidence on policies of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government. Talking about South Punjab province, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said south Punjab province was not a slogan but it was need of the hour.
Shah Mehmood said the country was passing through a critical juncture as India was trying to isolate Pakistan and put it in black list. He urged Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Shahbaz Sharif to avoid narrow thinking and show more responsibility for country’s interest.
About demand for changing name of Benazair Income Support Programme (BISP), Qureshi said that it was a legal matter, adding that he personally was not in favour of changing the name of BISP.
Responding to a question, Qureshi informed that Pakistan’s High Commissioner to New Delhi Suhail Mehmood would be the new foreign secretary.
He said that Suhail Mehmood’s name was finalized after consultation with Prime Minister Imran Khan. He added that Suhail Mehmood had great experience in foreign affairs as he had also served as ambassadors to Turkey and Thailand.
