Two dead, four injure in explosion at CNG station in Karachi

Meanwhile, police have launched further investigation into the matter.

KARACHI: At least two people lost their lives while four others sustained critical injuries in a cylinder explosion at Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) filling station on Sunday in Karachi on Sunday, Dunya News reported.

Immediately, rescue teams and police officers rushed to the spot and cordoned off the site of the explosion, and collected evidence.

Following the incident, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah took notice and sought initial report from the commissioner of the metropolis.

Pump owner Muhammad Rashid and CNG operator Saqib succumbed to their critical wounds after being shifted to a hospital.

Later, Bomb Disposal Squad was called on to investigate into the matter.

The incident took place in North Karachi area of the metropolis. Rescue sources said that the explosion occurred at compressor room of the filling station.

The Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Altaf Hussain, while talking to the media, claimed that initial evidence suggest that the explosion had occurred due to gas leakage.

However, workers of the station claimed that the explosion did not occur at the compressor room and there was no cylinder present at the time of the explosion.

Meanwhile, police have launched further investigation into the matter.
