Rai Tahir was sacked after Sahiwal incident

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Rai Tahir on Wednesday has been re-appointed as Additional Inspector General of Counter Terrorism Department (CTD).

Tahir was sacked after Sahiwal incident in which four people, including a couple and their teenage daughter were killed in an alleged “encounter”.

However, Rao Sardar was given additional charge as his replacement.

Earlier, Lahore High Court (LHC) had sought a report from the judicial inquiry formed to probe into the Sahiwal tragedy on the next hearing of the case.

The prosecutor told the court that six police officers were termed ‘responsible’ for the incident while Zeeshan was declared terrorist in the findings of the report.

The report mentioned that Zeeshan had contacts with the terrorists belonging to the Islamic State (IS) among whom many were proclaimed offenders of Red Book.

The prosecutor further told the court that a list containing names of 63 witnesses in the case was also submitted in the trial court.
