5.6-magnitude earthquake hit various parts of Pakistan

No property or life loss has been reported by the earthquake.

LAHORE (Dunya News) - A 5.6-magnitude earthquake jolted several cities of the country on Tuesday evening.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department s National Seismic Monitoring Centre in Islamabad, the moderate intensity earthquake struck at around 9:47pm.

It took place at a depth of 40 kilometres at 104km northeast of Muzaffarabad, in Azad Jammu and Kashmir Region at a magnitude of 5.6 on the Richter scale.



Tremors were felt in Lahore, Sialkot, Jhelum, Peshawar, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Kohat, Swat, Mianwali, Shangla, Sargodha, Malakand division, Gilgit-Baltistan, Lower Dir and other parts.

No reports of life and property loss have been received yet.

Earlier on February 2, a 5.8-magnitude quake was felt in in Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, Swat, Buner, Shangla, Malakand, Mianwali, Dera Ismail Khan, Daud Khel, Shahkot, Sargodha besides various other parts of Pakistan.

The earthquake’s epicentre was reported by the Regional Seismic Monitoring Centre, Peshawar to be the Hindukush region, Afghanistan. It had a depth of 80 kilometres.
