Currency smuggling case: Court summons Ayyan Ali on Feb 15
The court rejected Ayyan's plea seeking acquittal and exemption from the hearing.
RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Customs Court on Wednesday upheld non-bailable arrest warrant of model girl Ayyan Ali and directed her to appear in next hearing on February 15 in currency smuggling case.
During the proceedings, the court rejected her plea seeking acquittal and exemption from the hearing.
Earlier, Ayyan had challenged her non-bailable arrest warrant, stating that it was issued even after submission of sick application and medical certificate.
Ayyan Ali became the focus of media attention when she was nabbed at the VIP lounge of Benazir Bhutto International Airport in Islamabad.
Under Pakistani laws, no one can carry over $10,000 on a flight, but authorities found $506,800 tucked in her luggage. She was released on bail in July and her lawyer said she had no intention to take money outside Pakistan.
