KARACHI (Dunya News) – The QR code has been used as an innovation on the grave of Dr Ruth Pfau, a renowned humanitarian and the founder of the National Leprosy Control Programme in Pakistan, where visitors while paying rich tributes to her life can scan it on their smart-phones to know details about her life.

The “Pakistan’s Mother Teresa” was laid to rest at the ‘Gora Cemetery’ in Karachi.

After devoting almost 55 years of her life to patients, Dr Pfau passed away at the age of 87 on August 10, 2017.

She was honoured with a state funeral that was broadcasted nationwide.

Later, the State Bank of Pakistan issued an Rs50 coin to commemorate her memories.

Dr Pfau was the emblem of devotion, hard work and commitment. Her zealous efforts brought leprosy under control. This resulted in Pakistan becoming the first country to put an end to leprosy.
